House of Refuge: Assisting Persecuted Believers from Iran find refuge in Kurdistan-Iraq

The situation in Iran and Kurdistan-Iraq remains dire, and believers in Iran are at great risk.

Kurdish believers are united, gathering for prayer and encouragement, studying the Word, and supporting Iranian refugees (using their own money) by providing essentials (such as food, medicine, medical care, and hygiene supplies) and by renting a house of refuge to safely shelter, feed, and protect them until they can return home or, if necessary, find a new home.

This proposal provides background to help explain the situation and outlines the need for a House of Refuge that we are asking you to help meet.

Below is a letter from our partners and the leaders of the Kurdish Evangelical Church.

"…Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world."

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger, and you invited me in…" Matthew 25:34-40 (NIV)

Brothers and sisters,

We are living in a very sensitive and difficult time in the Middle East. As you know, there is a major war, and major battles are ongoing in this region. There is ongoing persecution, bombing, killing, and imprisonment. People are dying and being persecuted, especially on the other side of our country—I mean, in Iran.

Three months ago, I began receiving many calls from believers in Iran who were being persecuted. They asked me for help. Some of them wanted to come to our side (Kurdistan-Iraq) because of persecution.

So God put it on our hearts to rent a house for these believers to find refuge.

By faith, we began renting a flat and setting it up.

Brothers and sisters, we need your help. I ask you to keep us in your prayers and help support our ministry to our brothers and sisters fleeing persecution in Iran.

By faith, we used our own money to make a down payment and purchase kitchen supplies and furniture for the sitting room.

We need this house for at least six months and probably longer. Much depends on who is in power when the war ends.

But on our own, we cannot continue. We need help.

Some of our needs are rent, utilities, and food.

Christians have been persecuted by the Islamic regime in Iran since it took power in 1979. But since the people rose up against the regime, the persecution has increased. Many are being arrested, imprisoned, tortured, and executed for their faith. As Christians, many are falsely charged with “acting against national security” for owning Bibles or talking about Christ.

To escape, they cross the border into Iraq at great risk, with few possessions and little money.

We are caring for these brothers and sisters by renting a house in town in Kurdistan-Iraq near the border with Iran. This house provides refuge and safety for persecuted Christians fleeing Iran.

In the midst of War – God is doing Great Things

"The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him. The LORD is a man of war; The LORD is His name." Moses, Exodus 15:2-3

We recently received an update from our teams in Kurdistan-Iraq and Lebanon that was heartbreaking, yet encouraging, as they told us how the wars in Iran and Lebanon are affecting them and how the Lord continues to do great things.

He is a summary of our update.

Lebanon

Conditions in Lebanon are dire. Over a million people are displaced. Among them are thousands of Christians, who support Israel’s right to its land, did not want this war, and wish to be allies. The Christians are deeply concerned about the potential for civil war, with Shia Muslims (Hezbollah) attacking and trying to take Christian villages. The Christians will fight back to protect their families, neighbors, and property.

On a personal note, our team leader, Joseph, and his wife, Lydia, have a 32-year-old son undergoing chemotherapy for stage 4 lymphoma, and Lydia’s mother recently suffered a stroke and now lives with them.

Our team provides essential support to these believers and other displaced people, including food, medicine, medical care, and hygiene supplies; provides Biblically-based trauma healing; trains the Lebanese Army, first responders, and local believers in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (Battlefield First Aid); runs a Christian school for 199 Christian and Muslim students (currently meeting online due to the war); and provides pastoral care.

Syria

The Syrian government (the new president, Al Gulani, is a former leader of a militant extreme Islamist group) is persecuting Christians by destroying churches, arresting pastors, and making it extremely difficult for believers to meet. Pastors are reaching out and asking for help.

The Evangelical Christians in Lebanon and Syria are very close and know each other well.
I know some of these pastors from our Time of Refreshing conference that we hold in Lebanon.

We are sending funds to purchase essential items (such as food, medicine, medical care, and hygiene items), training them in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (Battlefield First Aid), and providing Pastoral Care.

Kurdistan-Iraq

Iran is attacking Kurdistan-Iraq directly as well as utilizing Iranian-backed Shia militias based in Iraq; every night, missiles and aircraft fly overhead—sometimes hitting their town. Their children are being mocked and threatened for speaking out about their faith. Prices have tripled since the war began. Despite all of this, believers remain united, gathering for prayer, encouragement, and to study the Word.

The situation is extremely dangerous for Iraqi and Iranian Christians in Iraq because Iran has many businesses and other entities that act as bases to spy on people in Iraq, especially Iranian refugees and Iraqi Christians.

Pastors Ari and Aram serve as the FPI leaders in Kurdistan-Iraq and lead the Kurdish Evangelical Church movement, overseeing churches throughout Kurdistan-Iraq and Iran. This role puts them in close contact with many pastors and gives them a clear understanding of the situation and needs in both countries.

The Iraqi Kurdish Church is supporting Iranian refugees, most of whom are Christians, by providing essentials (such as food, medicine, medical care, and hygiene supplies), renting a house to shelter, feed, and protect them until they can return home, and serving as a place for fellowship.

Iran

The situation in Iran is very dangerous. The regime sees Christians as opposition and supporters of Israel. They are being threatened, imprisoned, tortured, and executed.

Our team in Kurdistan-Iraq has three church plants in Iran. The people are in desperate need of basic needs, such as food, clean water, electricity, and fuel.

We are sending money to the church leaders to distribute to the most needy.

Kenya and our partners there Wubshet and Habiba, are a couple we love and love to focus on. They have been in our lives for over 18 years. Their faithfulness is exemplified in their lives, and their commitment to never cease their love and service to all those they work with. As a couple, they understand the importance of establishing sustainable development of the whole person and the villages. They have been doing this for many years and understand thoroughly those under their care.

Story of Transformation ...

One of the most powerful testimonies of transformation is about Isabella.

Isabella comes from Kiwanjani village a community where prostitution and illicit brewing are among the main survival activities. Many children grow up exposed to abuse, neglect, and hopelessness.

At the tender age of 9, Isabella lost both of her parents. She was left vulnerable, without protection, guidance, or support. Her future looked uncertain.

Village Hope Renewal Kenya stepped in.

We brought Isabella into our Empowerment Centre. There, she found:

* Safety

* Love

* Mentorship

* Education support

* Vocational training in tailoring

At first, she was quiet and withdrawn. But through counseling, discipleship, and skills training, something began to change inside her. She discovered her talent in tailoring.

Today, Isabella is no longer just an orphaned child. She has become a skilled young woman who makes beautiful dresses. Her work has restored her dignity. She now earns income, supports herself, and even helps others.

What is even more beautiful — she has become a role model in Kiwanjani village.

Young girls who once thought prostitution was their only option now look at Isabella and see another path. She carries dignity back into a village that once knew only survival.

Her life is proof that hope and investing in others works.

Wubshet and Habiba are faithful servants. We in FPI are honored to have them and their ministry within the partnerships of FPI.

IN THE THROES OF CONFLICTS AND WARS ...

"And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, ... " Matthew 24:6a NLT

News feeds are buzzing with media from Iran, Israel, Lebanon, and many countries in the Middle East!

We, in the safe zones of life and place, have a difficult time imagining the devastation of conflicts, wars, natural disasters, and such. As Michael Parks says, "Everything is fine until it's not." Our visibility to see and ears to hear these tragedies is limited to our media input and news sources. It leaves us longing to better understand the actual pain and reality people are living in and bearing in these times.

One thing remains blindly below the surface in almost all our sources of information on these tensions. Wars are life-long ... let us repeat ... LIFE-LONG penetrations of all types of pain. Individual human beings, just like you and me, bear these agonies long after the battle is finished. Each person bears a physical, mental, emotional, relational, and family-history (forever changed) measure of suffering into the rest of their lives. These are little girls and boys, teenagers, mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and all extended family. And in all cases, these sufferings affect generations to follow.

To increase our understanding and compassion for those in these circumstances, let us gather a few realities:

1. Psychological and Mental Health Trauma

PTSD, Anxiety, and Depression: Studies show that war-exposed populations are roughly three times more likely to experience PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Children often suffer from chronic anxiety, nightmares, sleep disorders, and bedwetting.

"Toxic Stress" and Emotional Numbing: Constant exposure to terror causes "toxic stress" in children, leading to long-term developmental issues. Children may become desensitized to violence and emotionally numb.

Intergenerational Trauma: The trauma experienced by parents often impacts their parenting, transmitting fear and anxiety to the next generation.

2. Destruction of Family Units and Social Fabric

Separation and Loss: Families are frequently torn apart through forced displacement, or members are killed, resulting in deep, enduring grief.

Orphaned Children and Sibling-Headed Households: Children are often left without caregivers, creating situations where older siblings must care for younger ones, or children are forced to live on the streets.

Breakdown of Roles: The stress of war often leads to increased domestic violence, divorce, and abandonment. National Institutes of Health (NIH) | (.gov)

3. Physical Devastation and Health Crises

Mortality and Injury: Beyond battlefield deaths, many civilians are killed or maimed by bombings, landmines, and weapons.

Malnutrition and Famine: War disrupts food production and distribution, often using starvation as a weapon of war. Children and the elderly are the most vulnerable to acute malnutrition.

Collapse of Healthcare: Destruction of hospitals and the flight of medical professionals lead to outbreaks of communicable diseases (e.g., cholera) and the inability to treat chronic conditions. National Institutes of Health (NIH) | (.gov)

4. Economic and Social Ruin

Forced Displacement: As of 2024, more than 120 million people were forcibly displaced by conflict. Refugees often face poverty, discrimination, and loss of identity.

Destruction of Livelihoods and Education: Schools and workplaces are destroyed, halting education for years and pushing families into poverty.

Loss of Future Opportunities: Children in conflict zones are often forced into child labor or become child soldiers, denying them their childhood and education.

Regardless of our political and social views, we are all called to a life of compassion towards those who suffer so severely.

FPI's action in any conflict is to gather the necessary resources to facilitate our dear partners in each country in distributing to those in greatest need. We've never biased this approach; we've always given to those in direst need, regardless of faith, social, and/or cultural norms. All our partners share that same generosity and love for others.

Every once in a while, one meets a visionary who has their hands in multiple endeavors and yet also truly has their heart in each one. That man would be Martins Atanda! Pivoting out of their home in Nigeria, Martins and Shade (wife) extend their reach into multiple countries in Western Africa, each with a quality of vision and labor one finds hard to fathom. Yet, they expand the Kingdom on multiple levels and with the best of teams in each locale. From village development, to quality water (wells bored and pumps installed), to sharing the Good News, to discipleship, to goats and sheep loans, to developing leaders, to women's education, to minority rights, the list can honestly go on and on. This husband and wife team is outright remarkable in all they put their hands and hearts into ... and all from Nigeria, a country of great persecution and turmoil, even making international news lately. FPI wholly endorses Martins and Shade, and we are grateful they have chosen to expand their lives and work alongside us, equally endorsing FPI!

HELP FOR THE SUFFERING IN SYRIA ...

International news has made us all well aware of the conflicts resurfacing in Syria.

We are saddened by how a region that seemed it may find peace so quickly erupts yet again into this cauldron of turmoil, with lives lost, and so many displaced as refugees.

Syria has become a hot spot of chaos, persecution, and damage to so many lives, especially to select minorities such as the Christians, the Kurdish people, and other minorities.

FPI has always focused on how to best help the suffering caught up in so much upheaval.

Due to our positioning over the years, with friends and partners in Lebanon and Syria, we have been able to channel funds and resources into these most-needed areas of oppression and hardship.

Through these relationships in Lebanon, Syria, and our partner, Warm Heart, our help of food, medical aid, shelter, and like, have allowed FPI to utilize best-help practices, getting resources, to families and neighborhoods of greatest need.

We in FPI simply cannot say enough good concerning those who take on great risk of life to get these resources into critical areas of disaster; in this case, a re-start of political and military conflict, out of control in Kurdish areas of Syria.

Over the years now, our collaboration with WarmHeart has been essential in so many areas of our giving and ministry into the lives in these regions. From wheelchairs, food sources, leadership events, collaborative events in disaster relief, funding families without resources, and so many other venues; WarmHeart has been pivotal in how FPI continues to labor alongside our dear friends there, in so many types of provisions into great needs.

Since 1979, the people of Iran—especially Iranian Christians—have endured hardship and persecution under a repressive regime.

Despite ongoing oppression, the Iranian Church is recognized as the fastest-growing church in the world. These courageous men and women remain steadfast in their faith, even in the face of severe persecution. In addition to religious repression, the regime has created a deep economic crisis, which sparked widespread protests that have now evolved into a call for freedom from the regime.

Happy 2026!

2025 was an utterly incredible year for Frontier Partners International (FPI). The Lord led us into challenging and sometimes dangerous regions, where we provided aid to those in desperate need, demonstrated God's compassion and love, shared good news with unreached and unengaged people, shared our faith, and strengthened believers across North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

Only as the Lord went before us and in the courageous efforts of our dedicated partners, was any of this possible!

We are deeply grateful for you who supported this work in praying and your generosity!

Here are a few highlights in 2025, inviting you to celebrate with us all the Lord accomplished, and so much more behind the scenes, not listed.

Middle East

Translated and distributed Biblical materials, donated by TUMI/World Impact, into Kurdish Sorani throughout Northern Iraq, and Kurdish regions —helping fill a void in sound teaching and strengthening the Church.
Marked our 5th year hosting “Time of Refreshing” conferences for pastors and leaders in Lebanon and Kurdistan-Iraq, encouraging church leaders in this challenging region.
Hosted seminars on Human Rights and Religious Freedom at the University of Sulaymaniyah and other universities, in Kurdistan-Iraq, from a Christian perspective. These events opened new opportunities to promote peace in the region and introduce Jesus to future leaders.
Continued assisting displaced Yazidi families in Northern Iraq, including those returning to their homes despite the risk of renewed persecution.
Church expansion and mentoring in Kurdistan-Iraq.
Distributed wheelchairs and other mobility devices, generously donated by Joni and Friends, bringing joy, hope, and the good news to children and adults with disabilities and their families in Lebanon and Syria.
Provided ongoing support, discipleship and education for Syrian refugees in Lebanon, as well as for those returning to Syria who face severe persecution.
Delivered emergency aid, relief, and development in western Syria, where militants slaughtered religious and other minorities.
Reached refugees in Jordan with the good news via providing relief, medical care, micro-business training, mentoring, and leadership training.

Africa

Missions Matter, which focuses on relief, sustainable development, and leadership training across Africa, became the 7th partner to join FPI.
Village Hope Renewal, working in Kenya on sustainable development, church planting, and leadership development, became the 8th partner under the FPI umbrella.
Provided for pastors and mentors across North Africa by motorcycle, equipped with the Jesus Film backpacks, to share the good news with the lost, encourage believers, and train leaders throughout the region.
Purchased a drill rig to provide clean water for drinking, cooking, and crop irrigation in impoverished villages, creating new opportunities to share the good news throughout extremely troubled Nigeria.

Asia

Held evangelistic outreaches and discipleship for students and young adults in Nepal.

We are fully confident the Lord will continue working in our troubled world, expanding and bringing many into His Family and Kingdom. We are excited to be called to join Him in a great “harvest” of souls and restoration of lives in 2026! And while there have been no gaps in our hope and trust in Christ, we do again re-claim a “New Year … New Hope” in 2026!

Sharing Hope with Syrian Refugee Women in Lebanon

This week, our team spent time with Syrian refugee women and their children in Lebanon, listening to their stories, offering encouragement, and reminding them of God’s unfailing love.

In Beirut, we met about fifteen women and children at a small restaurant in the Christian part of the city. Over lunch, they shared stories of loss and resilience. These women live in UN-funded apartments in the suburbs, and some have embraced faith in Christ since arriving in Lebanon.

The next day, we drove two hours over the mountains to Zahle in the Bekaa Valley to visit eight women living in a tent city. Families have survived in these makeshift shelters for more than a decade. The youngest woman was just 18. Others had been married for decades and raised multiple children in the camp. One young mother, only 28, had already been married for 13 years—wed at 15.

Their stories revealed the harsh reality of displacement: war forced them from their homes, violence scarred their lives, and lack of citizenship or work left them without stability. Yet hope took root. Since 2011, Pastor Joseph has discipled these women and their families, guiding them spiritually, educating their children, and pointing them to the hope of Christ. Many fear that returning to Syria will strip their children of both education and pastoral support.

These women are precious daughters of God, princesses adopted into His family through faith in Christ. Their strength and faith deeply moved me.

Together, we opened the Scriptures and reminded them that none of us truly belong to this world. We live as refugees of Eden, passing through, called to cling to faith and share the love of Christ until we reach our eternal home.

Before heading back, Pastor Joseph and his wife, Lydia, welcomed us into their mountain home for dinner. Along the way, we stopped at a Maronite Catholic shrine and the Marian shrine, Our Lady of Lebanon—a reminder of the deep faith that runs through this country.

We ended our trip both sobered and encouraged. These women endure unimaginable hardship, yet their faith continues to shine with resilience. Please pray for them—their strength, their families, and their future in Christ.

Hope In The Fire: Standing With The Church In The Middle East

War is raging across the Middle East. Conflict has erupted between Israel and Iran, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Hamas in Gaza. Iran has just experienced a devastating earthquake. And now, the United States has entered the fray.

In the midst of all this chaos, we are not helpless.

We are working alongside brave men and women of God who are on the ground right now in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Kurdistan-Iraq, and Iran. These believers are risking their safety to care for those in need—offering both physical aid and the eternal hope of Jesus Christ.

Their efforts include:

Delivering food, water, and emergency aid
Providing wheelchairs to the disabled
Discipling and caring for refugees
Teaching sound Biblical theology
Hosting conferences for pastors, their wives, and leaders—to strengthen them through worship, prayer, and the Word

These people are not giving up—and neither should we.

As James 1:27 reminds us:

"Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows during their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you."

We don’t have to stand by and watch these battles unfold from afar.

A Letter From A Pastor In Iraq To The US Church

As war spreads into Iran, our brothers and sisters in the Middle East—especially in Iran and Iraq—are facing more danger, hardship, and isolation than ever before.

Below is a letter I received from a pastor in Iraq. His words speak for themselves and show just how urgently the Church needs our support:

Dear brothers and sisters, pastors, and servants of the Lord in Christ,

Warm greetings to you all.

As you know, Iraq—since the beginning of creation until now—has always been a land of interest and significance. It holds a central place and role in the events that have unfolded throughout history. God's plans for humanity have often passed through Iraq. The visions of the prophets of the Old Testament, their stories, their messages, and their footprints—all left a mark in this region.

That is why the conflicts, events, wars, and tensions we see today among the countries of the region are all part of God's broader plan.

We sense this clearly.

These days, both spiritual and military warfare are at their peak, between forces of darkness and messengers of peace.

The region is in desperate need of radical transformation.

Alongside this, your prayers are urgently needed for:

– The defeat of Islamic terrorism
– The release of the Israeli hostages
– And for the peace that Christ spoke of in John 14:27: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you."

Reaching Students In Kurdistan: A New Door for Ministry

Three years ago, the Minister of the Independent Office on Human Rights in the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) extended a meaningful invitation: to teach university students about human rights and religious freedom.

While the KRG officially supports these principles, deep-seated prejudice and systemic challenges continue to affect religious minorities—particularly Christians. In response, we at FPI prayerfully accepted the invitation and began crafting a plan. Our goal is to lead Biblically grounded seminars that both educate and open doors for greater engagement from the evangelical church.

Dr. Charlie Lamento and I had the privilege of launching our first series of seminars with students and faculty from the University of Sulimani, Elite Academy, and Lutka Institute. We focused on foundational topics that integrate human rights with a Biblical worldview—helping students think deeply and spiritually about justice, equality, and freedom.

Charlie excelled in connecting with students through teaching, roundtable conversations, and group discussions. It was very encouraging to see the students’ openness. Many shared that they had never been exposed to these ideas before—let alone encouraged to think critically about them. They were eager, curious, and ready to learn.

The students often told us: “I’ve heard these ideas or thought in this way.”

It was clear they were searching—for truth, for peace, and for a vision of a better Kurdistan. As outsiders, we found that we could speak more freely and directly about sensitive topics than our local Kurdish friends might be able to. And when we did, some students began to truly understand. Some even wanted to learn more.

The seminars were well received and we’ve received multiple invitations to return and expand our program.

This is a new and developing area of ministry for FPI. Please join us in prayer as we explore the next steps, asking the Lord to guide us as we continue to bring the hope of Jesus into every room and relationship.

Urgent Relief Needed After Devastating Earthquake Strikes Myanmar

On Friday, March 28th, tragedy struck the Sagaing region of Myanmar (Burma) as a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake rocked the country, leaving behind a path of heartbreaking destruction. More than 3,400 lives have been lost, with 4,600+ people injured and 214 still missing Tens of thousands more are injured, homeless, and facing a terrifying new reality without access to food, clean water, shelter, or medical care.

The devastation has been especially severe in the Mandalay region, where buildings crumbled, vital infrastructure was destroyed, and entire communities were displaced in a matter of moments. Families are mourning lost loved ones while struggling to survive amid the rubble.

Responding with Urgency and Compassion

In the face of this immense suffering, Frontier Partners International (FPI) has launched immediate relief efforts in the hardest-hit areas. Working closely with trusted national partners and local churches, FPI is leveraging well-established networks to bring aid where it's needed most—quickly and effectively.

Ali’s Escape: A Life and Family Left Behind

Ali never imagined he would have to run for his life—let alone leave his mother and sister behind.

He had built his life in Jableh, Syria, working as an agricultural engineer and personal trainer, side by side with his sister to support their mother.

But on March 6, 2025, everything changed. Deadly violence erupted when fighters loyal to the ousted Assad regime attacked government forces, setting off revenge killings targeting the Alawite community and Christians. Alawite men, including Ali, lost their jobs and were forced to remain indoors. The streets were no safer—innocent men were kidnapped and murdered at random.

Armed fighters flooded the streets in massive numbers, killing civilians, looting businesses, stealing cars and property, and burning buildings to the ground. People Ali had known his whole life—his neighbors, friends—were slaughtered simply because of their faith.

Then, terror came to Ali’s own doorstep.

One night, three armed men broke into his home. They searched every corner, took every bit of money his family had saved, and stole the car he had been using as a taxi to make ends meet. His family was left with nothing. His mother was terrified, and for good reason—three of Ali’s closest friends, fellow engineers and civilians, had already been killed simply for being Alawite men.

The final moment came when Ali was caught in the street by a car filled with seven armed men. They demanded to know whether he was Alawite or Sunni. Ali later recalled, “I was terrified. But I told them, ‘I am an Alawite, but I am a civilian.”

Their response was immediate and chilling.

"You’re a pig—an unbeliever. An infidel."

By the grace of God, they did not hurt him. But Ali knew then that he could never leave his house again. If these violent men found him, they would kill him. His time was running out.

With no other option, he fled to Beirut, leaving behind the only life he had ever known. He is now safe—but his mother and sister remain trapped in Syria, living in fear every day, with little income, no security, and no way out.

And they are not alone. Thousands of families across Syria face the same nightmare.

So, This Is Christmas

What is Christmas?

Something I've been pondering for many years....Why are people more kind, somewhat joyful and generous during the overall holiday season - from November 1st to December 31st? Not all of these joy filled people believe Jesus is Lord, Savior and King.

If you are spiritually sensitive, you may notice it too. The heaviness of the year passes and a lightness occurs over the United States. Even with the changes and uncertainty of our future, the wars igniting globally and school shootings continuing to occur, there's a light and joy filled spirit about.

Is it really all about "stuff"? We're so excited to be gifting and recieving that we turn into happy people? I don't think that could be it, but maybe...I've been wrong many times.

Is it monetary? Companies claim to make the bulk of their income at the end of the year, and we know nonprofits receive the bulk of donations during this season - could it be the relief we can make our budgets? Hmmmmm.....

Or, could it be something bigger and more powerful?

Someone shared a fact with me many years ago when I was struggling. She said, "Worship is Warfare!" Way back then, I was still struggling to give my life to God - fully. Like most of us, I often said, "this is business" or "God helps those who help themselves", "If I don't do it, who will?"

What I did not understand at that time is His desire is to lead in everything. He cares deeply about every aspect of my life and yours. That was the struggle in my life at the time - not necessarily spiritual, but internal with a little help from the enemy.

Too often, we have a wrong belief about who God is. The militant, overbearing, demanding God often portrayed by the vocal, combative public presence or growing up with militant style parenting can blur who God really is in our minds. God doesn't hate any person, nor does He want us to hate people.

At the time I was struggling with this, I had a strong belief that I had to do it myself, work hard and take responsibility for my life. Not all of these ideas were completely wrong, but without God's leading, I easily go down a wrong road. I did work hard, and still do. I own my life because we cannot give to God what we do not own. However, I don't do it alone - God's leading and teamwork are a beautiful thing.

So why do I think there is more joy and kindness during these two months? Because radio stations, and stores begin playing Christmas music on November 1st. Why is that a factor? Worship is warfare. Many Christmas songs worship, glorify and exalt Jesus' name, the most powerful name in the universe. Scripture is being shouted, sung, and played over the United States for these two months every year.

Here's a thought...what if true believers prayed and worshipped this way year round? Instead of combatting, bashing and criticizing those who have not yet learned of God's love for them, what if we focus on sharing His love, mercy and grace? What if we stop telling people how to live and focus on why we live?

Just a thought for the "Most Wonderful Time of the Year."

We Live In An Interconnected World

Greetings! My prayer and hope is you are well and safe.

When crises strike, whether at home or abroad, our instinct is to respond with compassion and action. In recent years, the United States has faced its own challenges, from natural disasters to economic hardship. While it’s natural to focus on helping those close to home, it's essential to remember that the needs of our global neighbors—such as the ongoing crisis in Lebanon and the persistent poverty in North Africa—are just as urgent. The reality is that we live in an interconnected world, and our capacity for generosity is greater than we may realize. There is enough funding to support both international outreach and domestic relief efforts.

The crisis in Lebanon, marked by political instability, economic collapse, and the aftermath of war, has left millions of people struggling with food insecurity, lack of medical care, and displacement. In North Africa, poverty is widespread, affecting millions of families who lack access to basic necessities like clean water, healthcare, and education. These regions are home to countless individuals whose suffering is unimaginable, yet too often overlooked due to their geographic distance from us.

Giving to international efforts does not mean turning our backs on domestic crises. The resources available for humanitarian aid are vast, and many organizations are specifically dedicated to addressing either domestic or international needs. By contributing to both, we ensure that all lives are valued—whether they are affected by a hurricane in the U.S. or by conflict in Lebanon.

Supporting both international and domestic outreach is not a question of choosing one over the other. In fact, our ability to assist those abroad often strengthens our overall compassion and unity as a global community. The issues in Lebanon and North Africa are pressing, and by extending our support internationally, we help to alleviate suffering, promote stability, and empower vulnerable populations to build sustainable futures.

When we give generously, both locally and globally, we acknowledge that humanity’s needs are not bound by borders. Our resources, whether financial, spiritual, or logistical, can stretch far enough to make a difference both here in the U.S. and in countries facing extreme hardship. Let’s not underestimate the power of our collective giving to change lives across the world.

Everyone cannot and should not respond to every disaster need. This would create chaos and opportunities for corruption. However, as believers, we pray. We ask God where He would have us stay focused, and we serve.

The situation in Lebanon has escalated dramatically, leaving a severe impact on the local population, particularly in Beirut and near the southern border. Before the onset of hostilities, the U.S. team has already headed to Iraq before the escalation began, thus ensuring their safety. However, our local partners remain on the ground, facing the dire circumstances head-on.

In Beirut, the situation remains critical. Some family members of our local team have managed to move away from the most dangerous zones, yet others continue to live amidst the turmoil. The war has not spared anyone—children, women, men, and innocent bystanders have all suffered immensely. Our trained partners are addressing urgent needs, providing medical aid, firefighting, and disaster response, even as the conflict intensifies around them.

Public discourse often sanitizes the brutal reality of war by referring to "collateral damage." This term diminishes the human suffering we're witnessing: children left blind or maimed, women and men who have suffered grave injuries due to shrapnel from everyday items turned lethal. Near the southern border, where bombing is relentless, many believers who call this area home face unimaginable peril. While some have successfully fled, others have been less fortunate, suffering injuries, or worse.

The UN recently discussed wartime casualties and several are quoted to share, " 90% of wartime casualties are civilians ."

Our teams are poised to assist but are currently hindered by the unsafe conditions that prevent travel to the most affected areas. Despite these challenges, the commitment to aid those in need remains unwavering. There is an urgent requirement for funding to support these efforts. Many families are now homeless, lacking basic necessities such as shelter and food. This crisis has compounded the already significant needs of refugee families and others whom our ministry serves, causing the demand for our services to grow exponentially.

In these trying times, we ask you to consider a contribution towards the Lebanon outreach team's efforts.

Your support would enable us to continue expressing Christ's love through crucial services and direct aid. Audio Tools Allow Teams To Share God's Love

Teams from all over North Africa received audio devices for use in their outreach and ministry. Each device provides access to custom languages of Jesus Film audio, Audio Bible and stories to share with believers seeking to learn and grow in their relationship.

We are tremendously blessed to have partnered with Tumi and several donors who provided these tools for our teams.

Sharing hope with providing leaders with tools to end poverty is the mission. Technology helps accomplish the task.

Sharing God's Love In Our Day To Day Lives

The team at Refuge Cities Network recently shared how simply sharing in our day to day lives helps others find peace and joy. During jobskills trainings, men and women are able to talk about their lives. This is an excellent example of how believers can share without being a threat or pushing our agenda on friends and neighbors, in every culture. Friends sharing their lives and their hearts together.

Last Wednesday, a student asked me in the makeup course, "how did you choose your husband? How did you feel about him?" I told her honestly, "Actually, I didn't choose him. It was an arranged marriage." The student was shocked.

I explained, "For a long time, I've been entrusting my feelings to God. I would say, "Lord, I'm afraid to choose. Please choose for me and don't let my emotions lead me to the wrong person. If I felt attracted to someone, I would go to God and talk to Him, saying, "My feelings are in Your hands. I don't want to choose; I want You to choose; While praying, I would feel a sense of peace and calm."

She asked, "So, you did not have feelings for this person?"

I replied, "No, because I could choose wrong by simply trusting my feelings. Marriage isn't a game; there's no going back. So I took my

time, prayed, and when I felt peace from the Lord, I knew it was right."

It was a strange concept for her.

She then said, "I think it's best that you did that. According to our customs, we don't see the groom or anything until we sign the marriage contract, and I'm afraid he might not be suitable."

I told her, "You should pray to God and say, 'O God, if this person is right for me, complete it, and if not, remove him from my path."

She said, "Amen, I will pray" and she seemed relieved and accepting of what I said.

The sewing ladies and I shared 1 Corinthians: "Love is not merely a feeling; its an action and a force that drives us to do good for others. It is patience, kindness, and not being jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things,

hopes all things, endures all things."

Unconditional love, like Gods love for us, is without expectation or condition. We love others and accept them as they are, wishing them well. We love even our enemies and forgive others. We try to understand others feelings and don't just focus on our own needs.

One student said, "When my heart is filled with love, I live in peace and comfort."

We prayed that the Lord will fill us with true, unconditional love, just as He loves us.

During our leatherworking course, a group of us opened up about the challenges of sadness. We shared how it can be overwhelming and hinder our daily lives. We discussed the impact on our families and found solace in the idea of turning to prayer for comfort and healing. We also learned new ways to deepen our prayer practice.

Evangelism Through Eyeglasses!

Making Heaven Dance

We recently held an incredible event called "Evangelism by Eyeglasses," where we provided free eyeglasses to over 200 patients, most of them Muslims. This initiative was a great blessing, especially with the support of our dear friend from North Carolina, who has long desired to come to Jordan. She made this possible by bringing over 300 eyeglasses with her, which played a crucial role in making the event a success. This act of love and generosity was so encouraging to us as we showed God’s love in a tangible way.

Youth Involvement

What made this event even more special was the involvement of our youth group. These young believers, all of whom come from Muslim backgrounds, accepted the Lord only a few months ago. They were the ones who helped conduct the eyeglasses tests, stepping up in faith and eager to share the love they’ve received with others. It was a powerful moment, witnessing them serve and grow in their faith.

A Life Transformed

One particular story stands out from this event. A man from Homs, Syria, who accepted the Lord three years ago, has been part of our Bible study for the past six months. I encouraged him to share his faith with his family, but he was initially hesitant. Slowly, he began taking steps, and it started with inviting his wife to the Evangelism by Eyeglasses event. Following this, we visited their home and spent over two hours discussing the Gospel. What touched us the most was how actively he participated, sharing details, and expressing his love for Christ, especially when he saw his wife’s hunger to listen. In that moment, heaven truly danced as she accepted the Lord.

"The Advantages" of Partnering

"In the following, we will consider a few of the benefits of supporting indigenous or native missionaries to reach their own people. However, before we do, we want to reiterate that the indigenous missionary strategy does not eliminate or even reduce the need for cross-cultural missionaries. This is not an either/or, but a both/and situation. We are not arguing for a moratorium on Western missionaries, but fully recognize the need for thousands more on the field! We are simply seeking to prove that the indigenous missionary strategy is equally viable in certain contexts.

Some of the benefits of sending indigenous missionaries are:

Human Resources. It is a fact that, before going to war, military strategists consider the size of their population as opposed to that of their enemy. This illustrates that the amount of human resources available to carry out a task is extremely important. The world is a very large place—with more than seven billion people. If every Christian in America were a cross-cultural missionary, there would still not be enough missionaries to preach the gospel to all peoples! If we continue to depend only on missionaries from the West, much of the world will never hear the gospel.

Financial Resources. It costs a great deal of money to send and support North American and Western European missionaries. Many missionary families require $4,000 to $7,000 a month to work in a foreign land where the average salary is often less than $200 a month. In contrast, the indigenous or native missionary is able to live on the same salary as his fellow countrymen. This adds up to a tremendous increase in economic power.

Language and Culture. Any cross-cultural missionary will testify that differences in language and in culture are two of the greatest obstacles to the work. It often takes a cross-cultural missionary his first term (4-5 years) just to learn the language and adjust to the culture. This means that it is not abnormal for five years and over a quarter of a million dollars to be spent on the mission field while the missionary learns the language, adjusts to the culture, and does a minimum of ministry. In contrast, the indigenous or native missionary has no need to learn the language or adjust to the culture that he has known since birth. From his very first day on the mission field, the indigenous missionary is able to concentrate on his two priorities—evangelizing the lost and establishing churches.

Identification. There is a great deal of anti-American and anti-European bias in many of the least evangelized countries of the world. In many people groups, it is virtually impossible for a Western missionary to preach the gospel because he is rejected for his nationality long before he has the opportunity even to communicate his message! In contrast, the indigenous missionary has little problem with such bias because he is of the same flesh and blood as those to whom he preaches. When he is rejected, it is not because of his flag, but because of his gospel. Another problem that missionaries from the West often face is their inability or unwillingness to live on the same level as those to whom they minister. Some Western missionaries live in homes that seem like mansions to the native; they drive expensive cars, while the native takes a bus; and they send their children to private school, while the native sends his to public school. In contrast, the indigenous missionary lives in the same neighborhood, takes the same bus, and sends his children to the same school.

No Difficult Transitions. For the cross-cultural missionary, establishing a church is often not as difficult as the later transitional period when the missionary bids farewell and the church comes under national leadership. The church often suffers a great deal during this transitional period, loses members, and is greatly discouraged. Having experienced the prestige of having a Western missionary as a pastor, the church is often no longer willing to accept one of its own. This is not a problem when the church is planted by an indigenous missionary and is under his leadership from beginning to end."

Last week we were honored to host a team of medical personnel from our partner WCF ( World Compassion Fellowship ) in New York. Over six days, we were able to see more than five hundred patients. We praise the Lord for this opportunity to partner with such a phenomenal group to serve our communities!

We conducted medical clinics in five locations: our East Amman Life Center, Zarqa, a refugee camp and two in West Amman. Our patients were refugees from Yemen, Syria, Sudan and Iraq, as well as the Jordanian poor. Seeing these doctors, nurses and volunteers treating both the body and soul was a blessing.

So many came in the door with the weight of the world and left with smiles on their faces, having been seen, loved and served.

Our week began on Saturday in our East Amman Life Center. Two of our Iraqi doctors joined the visiting team to serve over 130 patients, from Iraqi, Syrian and Jordanian families. On Sunday the group conducted a clinic in a city just north of Amman. They were able to treat Syrian, Egyptian, Iraqi and Jordanian patients. Monday the group worked together with our Hope Clinic to serve Sudanese, Yemeni, Somali and Syrian families. In one week, this team served a global audience. God Is Moving - Over 1 Million New Believers

What first comes to mind when you think of the Middle East?

Some of us immediately reflect on the Islamic Republic of Iran’s relentless efforts to develop a nuclear weapon, while their government-sponsored mobs chant, “Death to America!” and “Death to Israel!” For others, it’s Iran’s relentless military aggression in the Middle East and assassination squads elsewhere . Meanwhile, those of us who focus on international religious freedom recall that year after year, Iran is listed as one of the 10 worst persecutors of Christians in the world.

But there is another story that isn’t widely reported in our American media. Amazingly, there’s an explosive number of conversions to Christianity taking place in Iran.

I first became aware of this surprisingly good news when I lived in Israel — it was talked about among groups who were focused on Middle East evangelism. Then after I returned to the U.S., I read an unexpected report by Daniel Pipes, a Jewish researcher and author and friend of mine who wrote about it for Newsweek :

“Something religiously astonishing is taking place in Iran, where an Islamist government has ruled since 1979: Christianity is flourishing. The implications are potentially profound.

“Consider some testimonials: David Yeghnazar of Elam Ministries stated in 2018 that ‘Iranians have become the most open people to the gospel.’ The Christian Broadcasting Network found, also in 2018, that ‘Christianity is growing faster in the Islamic Republic of Iran than in any other country.’

“This trend results from the extreme form of Shi’ite Islam imposed by the theocratic regime. An Iranian church leader explained in 2019: ‘What if I told you the mosques are empty inside Iran? What if I told you no one follows Islam inside of Iran? ...What if I told you the best evangelist for Jesus was the Ayatollah Khomeini [founder of the Islamic Republic]?”’

Confirming these statements, a significant survey taken in 2020 by Gamaan, a secular Netherlands-based research group, reported that there are far greater numbers of Christian believers in Iran than ever before — more than a million. In fact, those involved with the “house church” movement in Iran are convinced that there are likely several million Christian believers there.

In my research and interviews, it has become clear that new Christians’ witness to others is mostly shared in quiet conversations, encouraged by low-profile online Bible studies, and affirmed by visions, dreams, and miraculously answered prayers. Due to their risky circumstances, recent Christian converts are enthusiastically communicating about their changed lives with friends and loved ones — but quietly and carefully. However, their discreet but persistent witness accounts for the extraordinary number of new Iranian believers, who meet in small house churches.

These house churches are usually comprised of no more than 10 to 15 believers. On a given day, they arrive, one by one, at a small apartment or some other nondescript location. After the last one enters, the door closes and locks, and they all take a deep breath and relax, greeting each other warmly.

A few minutes later, the little gathering begins to sing — very softly, accompanied by a quietly strummed guitar. They are cautious, not wanting their voices to be heard beyond the apartment’s thin walls. But soon, with closed eyes and hands lifted heavenward, they are lost in praise and worship music. Later a teaching from a biblical passage is offered and a communion service takes place. And finally, after more conversation they leave, one by one.

Some house churches have continued for years without intrusion by government authorities. Others have experienced devastating interferences.

Sudden invasions by state authorities can happen at any time; only rarely are they preceded by a threatening text message or phone call. Everyone knows about Christian gatherings in which, without warning, a dozen or more officials have burst into a small meeting and roughly arrested everyone there. Typically, these authorities also literally tear apart the residence, searching for laptops, phones, evangelistic publications including Bibles and other books, DVDs, and videos. They’re looking for anything they can confiscate and label as “evidence” against the Christians. Arrests are made based on accusations such as “insulting Islam,” or conducting “deviant activity” that “contradicts or interferes with the sacred law of Islam.”

The house church participants, including recent converts, know very well that the aftermath of such raids can also be perilous: continuing threats of violence, lost employment, expulsion from school or university, confiscated cash, and the endangerment of other family members. And everyone knows that sexual violence against a mother, wife, girlfriend, or daughter is likely to follow. Still, with all this in mind, Iranian house church Christians are extraordinarily courageous. And sometimes the price they pay for their boldness is exceptionally painful.

Prominent organizations who report on Iran’s abuse of Christian believers, including the Vatican and several Protestant groups, declare that the regime has recently increased its abuses, including surveillance, arrests, and imprisonment of house church leaders and those who worship in their homes.

And true justice seldom follows. Open Doors acknowledged that their watchdog organization is “appalled by the testimonies of violations of due process that took place in the court rooms, including humiliating remarks from the judge, the court’s unconcealed favor for the prosecutor’s side, the defendants’ occasional lack of access to a lawyer, and verdicts issued in less than 10 days — clearly — without sufficient consideration of evidence.”

As I’ve learned about the many abuses suffered by our sisters and brothers in Iran, I have also been awestruck by their courage and boldness — and by the remarkable results. More than a million new converts — called Muslim Background Believers (MBB) — are reading the Bible for the first time, praying, gathering in small groups, and sharing their new faith with friends and family, despite the risks. Their faith is amazing, encouraging, and inspiring.

Today, when we see “Iran” in the headlines, we are wise to be concerned. Let’s pray for God’s intervention into the regime’s deadly intentions. But let’s also remember our little-known but rapidly growing Christian family inside Iran’s borders. Their bold example of courage in the face of persecution shines brightly amid the ever-increasing darkness in the Middle East.

Reaching Out To Share Hope

Warm Heart Lebanon often meets with refugees interested in learning more about the Truth. This group of about 50 people gathered on short notice when they heard Pastor Joseph was coming to share.

These gatherings often bring more questions than time allows, opening doors for repeat visits. The team may share basic needs like hygiene items, food baskets and blankets with families in need as they build relationships. Families in this region have been living as refugees for many years and find it difficult to maintain their hope for a better future. Warm Heart shares eternal hope and God's promises for today. As a result, many families hope is restored and will endure for a lifetime.

Also in Lebanon, a new partner has joined FPI, A Heart & Calling provides these same refugees with trauma healing counsel and ministry. Families have been torn apart by violence and war, literally and emotionally. Sandy Milan brings healing power through God's word to women and children.

The outreach of the Warm Heart team reminds us of Matthew 9. " Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness. At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.'"

What is your calling in relation to the harvest? Will you take a moment today to pray for those who serve in difficult regions like Lebanon, Iraq, Nepal, North Africa, Afghanistan and Jordan? Will you take a moment to contemplate and consider families who do not yet know Christ and endure unspeakable trauma? How can they know without hearing? How can they heal without knowing?

A Time of Refreshing 2024

Serving In The Middle East Is Incredibly Difficult

"I was burned out, and my wife was very depressed. I wanted to take her somewhere for a few days to refresh, but I couldn't because we did not have enough money.

Then, unexpectedly, Pastor Milan called to invite my wife and me to attend the Time of Refreshing conference at no cost. There are not enough words to thank you for the encouragement, rest, and refreshment we received from the fellowship with all the Pastors.

“A Time of Refreshing” is designed to encourage and strengthen Pastors, Wives, and Leaders through the teaching of the Word, Worship, Fellowship, and Prayer in a peaceful, secure, and restful atmosphere. The conference is held for three days in each location.

The evangelical church in the Middle East is small, in many places ill-equipped, pressured by the religious communities they live in times of war, failing economies, cultural prejudices, and the day-to-day pressures of ministry. Serving in this region is incredibly difficult.

During these conferences, these Kingdom Builders find the rest and renewed hope they need to stay in the fight! Each year, more people ask to attend. Ashty Church Serves Families In Dire Need

Blankets, heaters, baby formula, food for older children and smiles are shared in Kurdistan/Iraq. Ari and his teams serve families who have lived in squalor since the terror of their village being overrun by extremists many years ago. These families are resilient and desire to build a future. Working together, the families support and encourage each other as the Ashty Church provides basic needs, skills trainings and their actions demonstrate the love of God that flows through their hearts.

Financial partners make this work possible. Teams are also growing vegetables in the warmer sections of Kurdistan/Iraq that are distributed to refugee families. A US partner donates seeds and livestock funds to our teams to share with families. In 2023, a widow and her family were given a flock of turkeys. This resource has become vital income for this family in poverty.

We are truly blessed to partner with these teams from Ashty Church.

Her heart to share God's healing with women and children who have experienced unspeakable trauma draws her to launch a specific ministry that will continue to bring healing and hope to women and children throughout the Middle East and Africa.

You may recognize Sandy as she was launched from Warm Heart Lebanon with blessing into this new endeavor. She has traveled to Jordan, Africa and throughout Lebanon to share her expertise in trauma counseling with leaders and with women and children in need.

Women and children throughout this region have experienced severe trauma including kidnapping, physical attacks, war and other violence. Sandy brings healing and strength to these survivors helping them build a solid foundation for the future.

Grace Church of Myanmar conducted a large outreach on 15- 21 April, 2024. In this outreach God saved some souls. Among the persons who accepted Jesus as their personal Saviour and Lord, three persons were given Baptism. God is working in Myanmar to achieve His mission always.

We distributed large quantities of rice to refugee families at the border of Myanmar and India. These families fled with nothing and are in great poverty. Our church hopes to serve them well and love them like Jesus.

Warm greetings in the name of our Lord! We're thrilled to share with you the latest updates and heartwarming stories from our ministry.

In this update, we'll journey through the remarkable experiences of Hassan, Hossam, and Haidar—individuals who have encountered God's grace in the midst of adversity. Each of their stories is a testament to the transformative power of faith.

Hassan, a Syrian refugee who endured torture and lost both hands, found immeasurable peace and joy upon accepting the Lord into his life. His courageous testimony inspired others, like Hossam and Haidar, to also embrace the faith. Through the guiding light of discipleship, we've witnessed the profound impact of their newfound faith as it spreads throughout their communities.

One particularly moving moment occurred when Hassan graciously invited us to share a meal with his family. Reminiscent of Jesus' encounter with Zacchaeus, this gathering became a sacred space where hearts were opened to the message of salvation. During this time, three of Hassan's children—aged 15, 14, and nine—joyfully accepted Jesus into their lives, declaring, "Yes for Jesus." It was a moment of true salvation, reminiscent of biblical accounts.

Amidst these powerful testimonies, we're reminded of the ongoing needs within our ministry. As we continue to support Hassan, Hossam, and Haidar in their ministry roles, we seek your prayers. Pray for God's guidance and provision as they navigate their paths in the Kingdom of God. While God has graciously provided for their needs for the next three months, we trust Him to sustain them for the entire year.

Global Christianity Surges Beyond Projections in 2024

The growth of Christianity is particularly pronounced in the global south, with Africa and Asia emerging as the fastest-growing regions.

The Center for the Study of Global Christianity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary recently reported that global Christianity is experiencing remarkable growth, defying expectations and surpassing population rates.

Contrary to the anticipated slowdown, the Christian population is projected to climb from over 2.52 billion to 2.63 billion, representing a 1.08 percent growth, and is expected to surpass 3 billion by 2050.

Within Christianity, certain denominations are witnessing even more rapid expansion. Notably, Protestants (1.63 percent), independents (1.96 percent), evangelicals (1.66 percent), and Pentecostal/charismatics (1.48 percent) are identified as the fastest-growing groups, showcasing the diverse nature of the faith’s evolution.

The growth of Christianity is particularly pronounced in the global south, with Africa and Asia emerging as the fastest-growing regions.

Africa, in particular, has undergone a remarkable transformation, evolving from having less than 10 million Christians at the turn of the 20th century to now being home to 734 million Christians, growing at a rate of 2.64 percent.

By 2050, Africa is projected to host more Christians than Asia and Latin America combined.

Intriguingly, the report indicates that Christianity is not only growing in numbers but is also expanding geographically.

In 1900, 95 percent of the world’s Christians lived in predominantly Christian countries. However, the trend is shifting, with a decline of 0.17 percent between 2020 and 2024, indicating that more Christians are residing in diverse, non-Christian majority nations.

Simultaneously, atheism, which once saw a peak around 1970 with 165 million adherents, is on the decline. The current growth trend for atheism is -0.12 percent, with their number falling from 147 million in 2020 to 146 million in 2024.

In contrast, agnostics are experiencing minimal growth with a 0.09 percent increase, and overall, non-religionists, atheists, and agnostics combined are projected to fall to less than 849 million by 2050.

A significant aspect of this growth is reflected in the establishment of churches and the sending out of missionaries. Over the past century, the number of churches has increased tenfold, reaching an estimated 4.2 million in 2024.

The international missionary force has grown from 62,000 in 1900 to a projected 445,000 in 2024, with expectations of reaching 600,000 by 2050.

The report brings attention to the improved accessibility of the Gospel. In 1900, over half of the world (54.3 percent) lacked access to the Gospel, but this figure has steadily decreased to 27.8 percent in 2024.

The number of languages with New Testament translations is also set to rise from 2,400 in 2024 to an impressive 4,200 by 2050.

What makes FPI a good investment?

I truly love that word “investment”! It has that ring of something of worth and worthy, intrinsic value, sustainable, ongoing, unwasted, frugile yet focused in venture abundant, even prosperous in that healthy sense of the word, and the like. When I personally give financially or otherwise, I desire to see results ongoing, even life-long if possible.

Frontier Partners International – FPI is a great vestment and investment!

I have personally vested in FPI and helping build sustainable resources, since its inception as an organization. As a member of its leadership team, I have been able to observe almost all angles of its resources, both in people and otherwise. Financially, it is not only sound, but also proven to obtain its goals in serving others, without any waste and unneedful overhead. It’s a lean team, with a unique ability to maneuver all resources wisely and nimbly. In each of its spheres of co-laboring with others on the field, all resources are channeled and used by the recipients in a timely and efficient manner.

Funds for the field are held accountable, via constant receipting and oversight, throughout the process of projects and staff support payouts. The return on investment is seen in lives changed, hearts turned to Christ and the growing sustainability for those living in poverty.

Best, in my view, is how resources are constantly thought through and used, for how do build sustainability into all we are and do. With a very long history of all its associates, in endeavors of sustainable development, we have the unique underpinnings of experience in these areas, to constantly monitor and better all work for the long aim of becoming sustainable.

How are lives changed?

I love this question! It so quickly gets to the heart of what truly matters in connecting our financial giving, all resources, relationships, and those lives we love and work with, serving!

Coming from a lifetime of serving those both in immediate needs as well as sustainability for life-long benefits, I find my thinking and experience runs parallel when working with Frontier Partners International – FPI. We are a ministry given over to lives being transformed, albeit it short-term and/or long-term. Change in lives, individually and collectively, always means transformation! And while short-term input from us will not usually allow for the type of transformation I speak of; it remains our goal, our aim, always.

That is why FPI is committed to handling short-term events and helps with a long-term perspective of transformation. Transformation, at its best, takes place relationally over time. We in FPI are 100% committed to this! Lives are changed because we are serving alongside those in need, with that long-haul perspective of helping them out of ALL their forms of poverty.

Most times, poverty resides fundamentally, in the way a person thinks. So, we are committed to relating alongside them in this, growing them and providing for their needs via relationships that in turn change their lives from a poverty-mentality, to one of wholistic and healthy unselfish prosperity.

Refugees and IDP(s) – Internally Displaced Persons are some of the neediest and most vulnerable people on our planet!

FPI has, in its staff and associates a very long and deep history of helping these types of people. We simply could not count up the years of collective experience in helping such needful ones. Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq/Kurdistan are but a few of the countries FPI is actively working in, alleviating acute short-term needs as well as helping refugees and IDPs in their educational, medical, social, financial, food-resource, health, and other needs.

Why Is What We Do Important?

Serving Together

Our world today is in constant stages of mega-shifts. Many of these we would call epic, or at least would be referred to as foundational shifts that affect families, and large groups of people, on social and a geographic scale. These shifts are caused via wars, economics, political upheavals, weather phenomena, earthquakes, and the like. Every single shift also affects a person, an individual, a life, a human. Frontier Partners International – FPI was founded on and continues in relationships of those living in countries experiences these mega-shifts.

Importance of who we are and what we do can be measured both within the countries affected by these shifts, as well as our response to them. FPI and its leadership, has always been sensitive and responsive, quickly, to these patterns and singular shifts of need in each country. Because we have associates and close relationships in each country we serve; we can adjust our response accordingly.

Syria was severely affected last year with an earthquake. FPI, due to its integral relationships with those in Lebanon, who have the ability to gather teams for such needs, was able to help, getting into Syria from Lebanon immediately with medical supplies, tents, blankets, and expertise. Longer-term needs for things like wheelchairs, walkers, and cans, are also provided via other relationships FPI has, such as Joni and Friends.

Lebanon itself, is a country affected by both long-term issues such as the refugees there from Syria, as well as recent events such as the military conflict on its border with Israel. FPI, again, has been able to flex, and adjust to these types of needs as we provide medical equipment for short-term emergencies, as well as sustainable develop needs met in how our associates train and teach both the adults and their children. I am grateful to be a part of such a flexible and potent ministry in FPI.

Partnering expands ministry!

God has blessed leader, Martins Atanda, with a passion and anointing to reach Africa for Christ. Serving by raising Champions across the continent of Africa, we welcome this ministry to Frontier Partners International.

Martins serves the greater good in Africa by providing basic training in small villages helping each to overcome their own poverty. Beyond that, he and his champions work to reach the continent for Christ by planting churches and providing discipleship.

The greatest needs for Missions Matter today are motorbikes for champions and more funding for Jesus Film Projectors and backpacks.

We welcome this team with great humility and gratitude!

2023 Was A Fulfilling Year

It is with great joy that I write, giving God all the glory for what He has done in Jordan. In 2023, the Holy Spirit moved many hearts to decide to follow Jesus and we have been able to show the love of Jesus through practical action to many thousands of refugees.

With all that is happening in the Middle East today, it is easy to forget that there are still over 1.2 million Syrian, Iraqi and Yemeni refugees living in Jordan. Most are in great need, but thanks to your generosity we are able to help them. Both we and they are extremely grateful to you for your love and support.

In December and January, we have been especially busy. Thanks to your gifts and with the help of many volunteers, we were able to bless over 16,000 people, visiting them and giving items like:

Over 1500 food parcels
1200 Blankets
400 heaters
Winter clothing and more than 10,000 running shoes
Christmas parties and presents for children.
During 2023, our East Amman centre was much used with more and more refugees visiting it.
Over 100 refugees graduated in 7 vocational training courses and most now have jobs and are
becoming self-sustaining.
Our medical clinic has been very busy and a new dental clinic has just been set up.
Many have been strengthened in their faith through our discipleship classes.
Our Educational center in the South of Jordan also blesses many Children.

We have also been able to welcome many teams from the US and Europe, visiting and serving with us, which has been a great joy.

Our office continues to be open to serve the needy who come to receive help daily. In December, our dear friend and colleague Rami Hanna shared that he wished to focus more on discipleship and studying theology, and he left the RCN team on 1st January.

As you may have heard, he has now set up a new organization, Footprints International (www.footprintsint.org ) to support his exciting new work, and with all our hearts we pray God will bless him and give him success. He will of course leave a big gap in the team which will be very hard to fill, but we are urgently looking to recruit someone to take on some of his work as soon as possible.

May the Lord of the harvest send out workers into his harvest field.

Lastly, we now have an active Elders Board as well as an International Advisory Board, both of which provide a good deal of oversight, helping us as an RCN team and giving valuable advice.

Again, thank you so much for your partnership with us in this work through prayer, giving and visiting. As we look ahead to 2024, we especially ask you to pray for much wisdom and grace for us as a team and that we may continue to serve the Master in sharing His love with many.

He Did Not Give Us A Spirit of Fear

2024 - Twenty Twenty Four - MMXXIV

We turned a calendar page and ushered in a new year. Are you looking forward to this new year? What are your plans? What are you looking forward to? Are you excited?

This time of year - the last month of the old year and the first month of the new year - it is exciting to listen to the predictions being floated out. Some are political predictions especially since we have a Presidential election coming up. Some are financial predictions. What will the markets do this year? Some predictions are based on planets and stars and the like. One thing all these predictions have in common is that know one knows what is going to happen. No human that is.

My grandparents introduced me to the Old Farmer’s Almanac when I was a kid. They raised cattle. We would sit around the breakfast table and read the forecast for the weather in the newspaper. Then we would consult the Almanac for the bigger picture. However, my grandparents had been on the planet long enough to know cycles and trends instinctively. They had been cattle-people for generations. The cattle business has a natural cycle. It is predictable. However, what I learned from them is that even though there is a cycle to life, we still had to get up every morning and “work” the cattle. No matter what the forecast or prediction, the cattle had to be fed, watered, doctored and cared for. Every day.

I don’t remember ever sensing fear in my grandparents. No matter what the paper or the Almanac predicted, I never picked up on any dread or panic in them. There was never a morning when they said, “Well, the paper said the world is going to end because of (fill in the blank). Might as well stay home and do nothing.” No, we ate our breakfast and got to work.

Fear is a reaction. Courage is a decision. I’m sure my grandparents experienced fear. Maybe I was too young to know. Now that I look back on that period of time I realize they were courageous. Now that I know what I know about what was going on in the world back then I realize the news then was just as bad or scary as it is now. But we ate our breakfast and got to work.

As I write this it is 2 degrees in Kansas. COLD! I remember getting up at 4am to go break ice in the water tanks so the cattle could drink. I was frozen by the time I got to school. But that’s another story.

No person can predict the future with absolute certainty. Why we still listen to people that try is a mystery. Most of us know that the people who throw out predictions, especially predictions concocted to scare, are trying to sell something. Fear I suppose. Fear freezes some people into inaction.

However, as followers of Jesus we know what he told us in Matthew 6:34, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own?

Do not worry about tomorrow.

As I reflect on the work Frontier Partners International has done over the last year I am inspired by the workers on the field that are working TODAY to feed the hungry, provide clothing and shelter, and build relationships and community to help those in crisis. FPI and our partners are serving today and tomorrow no matter what the forecast or predictions. We are not worrying about tomorrow because we know who owns the cattle on a thousand hills.

Bringing Hope To Hearts In Despair

As we approach the end of December, we would like to invite you to rejoice with us in all the Lord has done this year. We are welcoming 2024 with great expectations that He will do even more! Throughout the challenges and joys of 2023, God has been faithfully at work among the communities here. It is such a blessing to see firsthand how love in action is transforming hearts and lives around us.

You are such a vital part of the work of God through RCN.

We praise the Lord for each of you! We are grateful for your friendship and the encouragement that you have been to us in 2023 through your financial and prayer support.

This winter we’ve given over 1,200 blankets, 300 heaters, 1,400 food parcels, 800 backpacks, 10,000 pieces of clothing and new shoes for our refugee families and Jordanian poor. Our discipleship program continues to bring hearts and lives to Hope. And our vocational training program graduates are experiencing life change.

With a new year, we are looking forward to new projects! God willing, 2024 will see the launch of a dental clinic as well as expansions of many other projects.

We pray the Lord’s richest blessings on you and your family during this season and I wish you a very Happy New Year.

the youths are thirsty to know Jesus."

I hope all of your festivals in all of your homes, churches and meetings filled with exciting joy and Jesus’ blessings. We know that you are Spiritually with us and feel the presence of Holy Spirit. We feel a great blessing on our churches in Iraqi Kurdistan as we know that for sure that you did not deprive us of your prayers and intercessions for us. We are the Lord’s warriors and began waging a spiritual war in this sensitive area against all dark powers and you, like a shield, are protecting us with your prayers and fasting.

Thanks to the Lord with the faith in Jesus, His wisdom and your cooperation, Kurdish Baptist church is growing day after day. We advanced in all aspects. Churches were planted harmoniously in villages. House groups were formed secretly in the very sensitive areas. The teachings are ongoing. Evangelism in the various religious groups is very active.

I am supervising evangelism in the remote areas where I obtained a good fellowship. I deliver them copies of the Holy Bible and teach them the precepts of Christianity. And among the IDPs, thanks to the Lord, I evangelize people and bring them to the faith. Also, I contribute humanitarian aids to them as far as I can. I try to meet the needs of the poor people and pray for them, teach them, and then after they come to the faith I bring them to the church to be baptized.

I realized that the new generation and the youths are thirsty to know Jesus.

On the flip side, I work in the field of translation by reviewing the Spiritual books that are being translated from several languages to Kurdish so that the church can be established on the solid way of the Word of God. I am sending you some pictures so that you can understand our activities more. I thank your cooperations, prayers and intercessions.

We ask for your constant support as we can not do all the activities alone unless your prayers and Lord’s blessings are on us. May the Jesus’ Spirit dwell on each one of you and protect your spouses, children and communities.

Hope For Afghanistan

Hearts Open To The Good News In Afghanistan

I had a plan to go to a Province to bring help to the people who were affected by the recent earthquakes and to also meet the people who were deported from Pakistan and Iran.

I arrived on November 28, and the next day, I went to a village affected by earthquakes; it took one hour to get to the village.

I saw people living in tents outside. Almost all the mud houses were demolished.

“It was around 11:30 am when something like a strong wind came, and the ground shook, collapsing the whole village—another earthquake. Only a few people survived, and I am still thinking whether I am lucky to have been among them.

I was working outside that morning and had gone home to have lunch. Just as I was about to return to work, the earthquake struck. I wanted to run outside but was trapped when a wall fell on me. My sisters tried to run, but the roof collapsed on them.

I shouted, and people came to pull me out. My sisters were all dead by the time they were pulled from under the debris. I lost consciousness, and when I woke up, I was at the hospital with bandages and an IV. That’s when I realized what had happened. “I still hear the tremors in my head,” one of the villagers said. I was released soon and returned to serving those in need.

We had food and tents to distribute.

After we shared what we had to give, the villagers invited us to have tea inside the tent; I heard shocking stories from the other men sitting next to me.

I found the opportunity to share the good news with the villagers and prayed for them; they were so grateful for our sympathy.

In the city, I met many deportees, primarily young people. They were deported from Iran and Pakistan and had nothing to eat or to wear – just the clothes on their backs.

In front of the main bus terminal, I met a 30-year-old man walking; he had no money to go home, desperately asking people to buy his power bank so he could go home.

He was telling me stories of how the Iranian police caught him and kicked him out of the country. He used to work on a cow farm, and the police didn't let him take his clothes from the room.

I just gave him some money to get to his home; he was so excited and hugged me. He had tears running from his eyes. The gospel was shared with him and other deportees in the city, and I am proud to be a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Praying that many others in the city can receive the Word and that a church can be planted in the village.

Soon, I plan to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ with other brothers and sisters.

So, it is time to say Thank you again for your prayers and support. Have a very merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.

More Than Medical Care

302 People Were Treated

302 people were treated from July to September 2023 at the Refuge Cities Network medical clinic sponsored by World Compassion Fellowship. 1260 Medications were distributed bringing comfort and possibly life saving health benefit to those being served.

In the 3rd quarter of the year, 302 patients visited the clinic of different ages and nationalities which is a high number compared to the last quarter. The main diagnosis among the patients were chronic diseases namely hypertension and diabetes mellitus. Followed by different types of upper respiratory tract infections, nutritional deficiencies especially among children and older women.

In the last few months, we had the pleasure to meet many wonderful people visiting from the US offering their help and support by working the clinic.

One day after finishing a consult with an older woman she started to cry. She began explaining how grateful she is for the help she’s getting in the clinic. She also shared how she prays for us to continue this amazing work that we’re doing. This situation made me realize how we make a difference in people lives and may God give us the strength and courage to continue what we started.

There are some challenges at the clinic.

1- Our clinic lacks a special waiting area.

2- The limited time and personnel affect patient’s time inside the clinic when the average time for each consultation ranges from 7 to 10 minutes due to different factors.

3- There are only two health care providers in the clinic who are a doctor and an assistant. Other service providers such as pharmacists, lab technicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists etc. are needed.

It's Been A Productive and Fruitful Year!

Happy Thanksgiving week!

We want the world to know how grateful we are for our partners and volunteers.

This has been a tremendous year of engagement and response!

Here are just a few of the major accomplishments this year made possible by partners:

Responses to major Earthquakes in Syria, Turkey, Afghanistan, and most recently, Nepal.
Outstanding team travel for the uplifting conferences in Lebanon and Iraq, with many leaders returning to their mission with renewed vigor.
A container of wheelchairs was shipped to Lebanon for Syria.
$5,000 worth of much-needed medication was sent to Iraq for children diagnosed with cancer.
The medical clinic in Jordan has increased hours, and the dental clinic is ready to open.
A church building is almost completed in Nepal for local worshippers and gatherings for learning.
Your support to the Maui Wildfire Relief aided in providing basic needs through a local church response
Translations of Christian study books continue, and many are learning of God's love for them through these printed discipleship materials.
Families and widows were provided with livestock or birds as an income-generating opportunity.
Seeds were donated, resulting in many vegetables and fruits for refugee families in the Middle East.

Each of these engagements allows teams to share the love of Christ with those who may not yet know Him. We are honored and blessed to partner with funders and prayer warriors that help to extend His reach. Thank you.

None of this would have been possible without our partners on the ground and our partners who fund the work. Together, we make up the team serving God to bring healing and hope.

Teams providing basic needs, serving alongside others in disaster response and encouraging other leaders this past year will bring a harvest. Already, men, women, and children are growing in faith and responding to the call on their lives. God remains a constant - He does not fear wars or disruption of natural disasters. He does not quiver or shake in the face of opposition. He was, is, and always will be.

As our teams on the ground in Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan begin to prepare for the harsh winter season, I’m reaching out with a humble request.

Right now, countless refugee families in the Middle East are facing heart wrenching challenges. The biting cold, lack of food and need for warmth and shelter will become grim realities for many of the families we serve.

The recent attacks in Israel have intensified the crisis, leading to an increase in the number of people seeking refuge, making it more difficult for those in need to access aid, and causing a breakdown of security as the war spreads. When Giving to God's Kingdom is a Priority

A Story about the Gift of Giving...

There’s a reason so many people love giving. Although we don’t do it to get anything, it can fill us with incredible joy. And when we prioritize giving to God’s Kingdom, we can experience something greater…

Christmas 2008—I still remember the morning well. In typical Derrick family fashion, we were up before the sun, and the house was lit only by the subtle glow of hundreds of Christmas lights my mom had lovingly placed around the house weeks before. This was the most excited I had ever felt on a Christmas morning. As I looked at the beautifully wrapped presents beneath the tree, I focused intently on one—The one.

I can’t tell you any of the presents I got that day, but I can tell you with vivid detail about that gift. It was a calendar I had made for my mom using photographs I had taken, edited, and paired with Bible verses that were carefully chosen to comfort her heart as my family walked a dark and painful road. Because the website I ordered from needed extra time for production and delivery, the anticipation had been building for weeks, and it was finally time. As she tore the paper away and began to flip through the pages, her eyes filled with tears. It was at that moment I realized something: She may have received the present, but I was the one who was given the gift.

And just like giving to others, giving to God’s Kingdom can make an impact.

HOW GIVING TO GOD’S KINGDOM MAKES AN IMPACT

I don’t know about you, but I find giving fun. When the Bible talks about it being more blessed to give than receive, I couldn’t agree more. From thinking about the person and picking out the item to wrapping it and finally seeing the person’s reaction when they open it, the whole process is energizing for me in a way that few other things are. However, I know that eventually, the item will wear out, the calendar will be used, and the memory of the gift, no matter how special, will eventually begin to fade.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”—Matthew 6:19-21

As Jesus laid out, the painful reality is that we do live in a world where there are moths and rust and thieves—and even the things we hold most dear are temporary at best. When I sit with that sobering thought and begin, as Psalm 90:12 describes, “numbering my days,” I feel a deep longing for more. Thankfully, Jesus didn’t stop there. Not only can we have more, but we can also have more that will impact eternity.

How?

By giving to God’s Kingdom.

When Jesus talks about “laying up for yourselves treasures in heaven,” He is describing investing in God’s Kingdom and the work He is doing here on earth. He is describing a shift in priority from the temporary to the eternal—from the earthly to the heavenly.

I’ve had the privilege of serving as a Biblical stewardship and budget coach for several years, and one of my favorite moments in the process is when an individual discovers the absolute joy that comes from giving to God’s Kingdom. Much like Christmas morning in 2008, the excitement of getting to partner with God in what He is doing is hard to contain and begins to transform us from the inside out.

3 THINGS THAT HAPPEN BY PRIORITIZING GIVING TO GOD’S KINGDOM

So, what exactly happens when giving to God’s Kingdom becomes a priority?

– Our hearts change

Jesus revealed something very deep about human nature in the passage above. Our hearts will naturally follow what we treasure. We can treasure any number of things, and I find that, personally, one of the most powerful mirrors I can use to look at my own heart in this area is my bank statement. How I spend reveals what I treasure.

When giving to God’s Kingdom becomes a priority, something amazing happens—our hearts begin to change. The importance of this world begins to lessen as we raise our gaze to see what God is doing and invest in it. As the old hymn says, “The things of earth will grow strangely dim.”

– We do something God loves

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”—2 Corinthians 9:7

How cool is it to think we can bless God, the Creator of the universe? I still struggle to get my mind around that truth sometimes. As humbling and mind-boggling as that thought can be, though, it is true. And giving to God’s Kingdom is one way we get to do that. In fact, as the verse above reveals, God loves it when we give cheerfully to His purposes. It is an act of trust and obedience that shows what our hearts treasure… and that blesses God.

– We get to join God in what He’s doing

One of the great blessings in my life is a mentor who has walked alongside me for the last decade. While there are many lessons I have learned from this individual, one of the most impactful in my life has been this: “Look for where God is at work and join Him in it.” When giving to God’s Kingdom becomes a priority, this is a tangible opportunity to do just that.

Whether that looks like…

Giving to your local church
Investing in the work God is doing through ministries
Supporting a missionary

…or whatever else God may have placed on your heart, look for where God is at work and prayerfully join Him in it. This is more than just giving a donation—it is investing in eternity.

EXPERIENCE JOY BY GIVING TO GOD’S KINGDOM

While we don’t give to get, it truly is more blessed to give than receive. And when giving to God’s Kingdom becomes a priority, we get to experience that joy in a way that is unlike anything else this world has to offer.

Moreover, we can use the gift of giving to advance God’s Kingdom !

Reaching The Unreached

Lydia Is Empowered To Serve

Lydia (name is changed to protect her and her family) and her husband, serve in the Ashty Evangelical Church in Kurdistan/Iraq. They are Kurdish believers and have attended the Time of Refreshing conferences from the beginning.

Two years ago, Lydia was inspired to be bolder to share her faith with her neighbors. We prayed for her, and the Lord answered.

Last year, the Spirit told her to go to a UN refugee camp and share the Gospel with the people. UN camp environments are not safe. Though administered by the UN, refugee camps are crime-ridden and filled with violence, and a strict Islamic community rules this camp.

Lydia, as a Christian woman sharing the Gospel of Jesus with not yet believers, knew she was entering an environment where she could be injured or even killed.

Lydia was unsure what to do on her first few visits, so she walked through the camp in prayer, having casual conversations with a few women.

One day, she was invited into the tent of a woman, I'll call Miriam, from an unreached tribe in Iraq. They talked and drank tea and began a beautiful friendship. This gave Lydia the open door to share her faith in Jesus.

As Lydia continued visiting, more women gathered in Miriam’s tent to hear her share about Jesus. While some listened and welcomed Lydia, others threatened her and warned her not to return to the camp. Despite these threats, she continued visiting the ladies in the camp, knowing the Lord called her there and He would protect her.

Over time, Miriam and others in her tent accepted Jesus into their lives. Even Miriam’s husband, who would listen in, became a believer. Interestingly, one of Lydia's most aggressive critics became a believer and is now one of her strongest supporters.

Today, Lydia secretly meets with 13 people weekly in Miriam’s tent, evangelizing and making disciples using evangelism and discipleship materials we translated into the Kurdish Sorani language. And the numbers will continue to grow.

However, she and those who meet with her are in danger. Converts to Christianity can be beaten, lose their families, and be killed.

For better safety and a secure location, we are raising funds to rent a house outside the camp so they have a safe place to meet and start a church plant. The house would be overseen by Ashty Evangelical Church (which is a Kurdish-led church.

The house will cost 6000$/yr for rent + 3000$ initial investment for carpet, appliances, and furnishings to host meetings. Lydia has continued to grow in her faith and knowledge of the Word, studying and using evangelism and discipleship materials we have translated into the Kurdish language.

At this year's A Time of Refreshing conference in Kurdistan-Iraq, Lydia stepped forward, led the women's breakouts, and spoke in the main session, telling us how the Lord is working in the camp. This was an answer to prayer.

"I Found The Fullness of Frontier Partners Work Powerful!"

The situations in the Middle Eastern countries are different, but equally precarious.

This experience impacts on three levels.

There is the team going. We lived 24-7 together.
Then there is the national team on the ground that we spent a lot of time with.
Then there are the conferences where you teach and engage national believers. In all three arenas we experienced refreshment (along with a bit of weariness and sickness). Personally, I found the experience of preaching in a Filipina church and worshiping with the Filipina ladies in English especially refreshing coming at the end of our three week stint.

I found the fullness of Frontier Partners' approach powerful. We visited refugees where they lived in three different countries and a hospital that was receiving medicines funded by FPI partners. The needs of these folks and their gratitude was overwhelming - from goats and geese provided, to medicines that were in short supply, to simply acknowledging their worth by a visit.)

Yet, though it is a drop in the bucket, it connects loving concern to the name of Jesus - and gives our national partners a platform for ministry.

I have a deep respect for doing ministry their way. Life begins after the sun goes down in the Middle East. It is warm and creature comforts are not pronounced. My normal routine includes 'early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy and wealthy and wise. But in each country we visited, we often sat with our ministry partners into the wee hours of the morning. Talk always came to evaluating ministry and planning for future events - often at ungodly hours!

I appreciate Mike's commitment to connecting with nationals relationally, building trust, and doing ministry their way. There are other mission organizations active in these areas who do not seem to operate by these principles. I think Frontier Partners International does it best!

I am also aware that ministry in these places is tenuous. The political situations are different but equally precarious. The window for cooperative ministry may be brief. God only knows. But the challenges of ministry in failed countries and fragile 'autonomous' regions is great. Yet, that very thing makes this ministry so important. Brokenness and even hopelessness (outside of Christ) is common, even normal. We must pray for a massive work of God even as we do what we can.

On a personal note, my appreciation for the food, fellowship (team, nationals, conferences), and of our brothers and sisters in the Middle East goes deeper with each visit. And I think this personal connection (with Frontier Partners International teams) is a very important encouragement to national believers and our national teammates, to the kingdom of God. At least they said so!

The Team Returns To US!

God Is Doing A Great Work In The Middle East

We have just arrived home from our trip to the Middle East. I want to write a little about how the trip impacted lives, including mine.

Last year was my first mission trip, and I was grateful to go on one with my dad and his Team to the Middle East. On that mission, I learned a lot about what dad's been doing over the previous 40 years and the connections he has made. I also made many new friendships and connections with people and, on this trip, learned the impact I made last year was more than I ever imagined.

Thankfully, to God's grace this year, I joined him again with a team to Jordan, Kurdistan-Iraq, and Lebanon. I was excited to meet with friends I had made the previous year and see how much they and their work for the Lord have grown.

What I saw when we met each of them was God's work is intensifying, and the work that has been going on is growing way faster than I could ever think.

In Jordan, we saw how Refuge City Networks is rapidly and tremendously evolving to help more and more families. Today, they have a medical clinic, a growing classroom full of kids with multiple classes and hard-working teachers, a sowing room for ladies to learn to sow

clothes and items to sell, and a devoted men's group. They are also building a dentist's office. Much of this was in the works from last year and has progressed quickly, thanks to God and many of you who support their work.

In Kurdistan-Iraq, we met with our Team, Ari and Aram. They have been the minds and hands of FPI in Kurdistan-Iraq.

We held our first conference here.

This was the third year, so I knew many who attended. This year, Pastor Dean and Pastor Tim joined our Team, teaching the Word and encouraging the church. And they did a great job. They were so engaged and grateful for our presence, and Pastor Dean and Tim

gave strong messages of encouragement. Our Team was also greatly encouraged and grateful to be there. It was wonderful to see the motivation at the conference and have fellowship in the free time where we would sit and talk together. Hearing the stories of God's

work in their lives and the church was awesome.

God has been moving these people who are doing beautiful work in his name. At the end of the conference, we had an unplanned baptism where five people were baptized, publicly proclaiming their faith in Jesus and desire to serve Him. We also met with Yazidi refugees my dad has worked with for many years. They have been through terrible difficulties but continue working hard to make a new life. They have a small chicken and turkey farm, which is growing and has been very prosperous, helping them raise income and food. They also have land where they can grow fruits and vegetables, many from the seeds we brought last year, for food and to sell to the market.

We met with our Lebanese Team, Joseph and Saeed, who lead the ministry of Warm Heart Lebanon, and their beautiful family. There, we held our second conference.

Pastors, wives, and other leaders serving in Lebanon, Egypt, and Syria attended. They faithfully serve under aggressive religious pressures, persecution, and failing economies and greatly needed refreshing and encouragement. Once again, Pastor Dean and Tim did a great job.

We got to see the churches' growth, renew past relationships, create new ones, and talk about the work God has been doing in them and through them.

After the conference, we met with the Syrian refugees for two days. One day was for women who Warm Heart disciples. We taught from the Bible and they asked us questions. This was very encouraging for the women because they come from a life of insignificance and abuse. As we honor them and give them respect, their hearts open to us and the Lord. As they come to Christ, their faces change, and they even begin wearing colorful clothing, feeling brighter.

On the second day, we spent time with 40+ kids. We taught a Bible story, and they played football (soccer), and we hung out with them for the day. On both days, we served hamburgers and fries. This was a huge blessing because they seldom get meat in their diet. When it was time to go, one boy was lying on the ground groaning that he had eaten three hamburgers, and then other boys started saying they ate two, three, or even four hamburgers.

God is doing a great work in the Middle East through these leaders and our Team. Together, we were all encouraged, both those we served and us. Through this trip, I've seen so much of God's glory and the struggles of the Christian leaders. I am coming back so encouraged.

With God's grace, I will continue serving in the Middle East for God's glory.

Never Simply “A Planned Trip” To The Field!

Welcome to the well-planned, unplanned ministry and heart of Frontier Partners International!

Working with FPI on several trips I’ve taken with them, I learned quickly that although each one was framed and scheduled well, it would intrinsically have great “other” experiences, not planned. And that these side experiences would contain advances in FPI’s Kingdom work beyond what had been organized. It’s guaranteed that each trip will have such surprises!

It’s always planned for every trip to have time to help with the Yazidi refugees. Each trip involves funds raised for food, clothing, education, hygiene, micro-businesses, etc. Yet, no one “planned” to meet with the Yazidi king, allowing a relationship to start that would help to usher in better help for Yazidis and a healthier means for FPI to build relational bridges, affecting Kingdom advancement.

FPI consistently brings in products for agricultural needs in all regions they serve. These are pre-selected according to specific regions, climates, farming equipment, abilities, etc. Each trip so far has allowed FPI to meet new farmers and new leaders in the farming industry, who are again able to ascertain the best means and products to meet needs and produce better and better crops.

FPI moves in the direction of leadership development and better relationships with those who lead. Each trip involves extended time with such leaders, seeking to understand their needs best and how FPI can serve them, growing together. Every trip so far has opened doors to not only Christians, but also those in local and national positions of leadership, from local municipalities to more regional leaders who are influencers in their domains of secular governing.

Kurdistan, as an ethnic people region, albeit a historically volatile place at times and now enjoying peace, is strategically located to cover the countries of Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Turkey. FPI’s work is currently focused on Iraq/Kurdistan. It goes without saying that we have been able to meet and serve others outside our focus. And as Kurdistan is currently enjoying relative peace, it affords an attraction to leaders who are coming there for our help from these other countries. FPI is there, meeting and focusing on these leaders who are so effective in their respective countries.

FPI’s adaptability is evident in how quickly they can pivot and work with local secular leadership. This is extremely clear in how, on recent trips to Lebanon, unplanned times with emergency personnel leadership allowed them contextual relationships that would be so needed soon of those trips. From these relationships, FPI was able to immediately and effectively dive into helping with the disaster response needs of Syria and Turkey in recent earthquakes. This all happened because FPI was there on trips, flexible, and willing to tour emergency facilities, meeting their leadership and unknowingly preparing for the urgent earthquake needs outside Lebanon into Syria and Turkey.

We're Heading To The Middle East

SUMMER TIME & NUMBERING OUR DAYS

August has come. Micah and Elijah start school in less than two weeks! And they are so happy...NOT!

Carlos, Ilana, & Josiah are working hard.

All our kids have loved summer and "hated" school...like their dad...

Ever since I can remember, summers have passed too fast for me.

I think God speeds up the earth's rotation from May to September.

When we stop and meditate on our lives, the lives of our families, and our favorite oldies music, we see that life is short and fragile.

Moses, when reflecting on this, wrote,

"Lord... teach us to number our days,

That we may gain a heart of wisdom."

Your life is valuable , and by "numbering our days," we recognize the intrinsic value the Lord has given each one...none should be wasted. In doing this, our heart and soul gain wisdom (the proper application of knowledge), and our lives grow in purpose, fullness, and joy.

...I will always wish summers went by more slowly...

What does it mean to serve as a follower of Christ or Christian?

I find it interesting that the only people Jesus ever raised his voice to or "got angry" with were those who touted themselves as pious, religious and knowledgeable about the word of God. He never treated "sinners, people living differently, or people of an outcast group" with disdain, disgust, horror, or spewed horrible words at them. In many cases, we have examples of His demonstration of love for many who had difficult pasts, were in sin, and/or of an outcast group. But, here in today's "modern and educated" world, some leaders in the Christian world find themselves treating "outsiders" poorly, condemning some, and battling with those who need His love. They are also encouraging others to do so. YIKES!

The bible clearly states "If you can speak in the tongues of man and of angels, but have not love...." and it clearly states, Jesus is our example. Loving God and others is a mandate for believers, not a suggestion. And...Love is an action. Sometimes this is a difficult mandate to follow. I wonder if it were easy, would love be as effective in instilling joy and peace in hearts? hmmmm....

Frontier Partners International works diligently to bring God's love to those in need through ACTION first, and words when appropriate. We don't ask others to change their lives before Jesus will love them because its simply not true. Jesus did not ask me to clean up my act before He loved me, nor did He ask you to change your life before He would love you. We love Him because He first loved us. While we were yet in our own sin, He loved us.

Laws don't bring hearts to God. If laws worked to bring hearts to God, Jesus would not have come, lived amongst us and died on a cross.

Love wins hearts. While we pray and support those who advocate for laws that bring freedom for our friends globally, Frontier Partners' mission is simple. We serve those who have been forgotten; who are living in difficult regions. We offer the hope that only comes from a relationship with God. Those we serve often find joy in simply knowing they are loved and remembered. They find peace and joy from fellowship with a joy filled believer, even if their beliefs are not the same. Our teams bring food, supplies and relief, but the relationship is most valued by those we serve. The walls are removed spiritually and doors open to sharing our beliefs. Mutual respect and dignity are key to the growing relationships.

The world changed drastically in only 3 years when Jesus began His ministry. In 3 years, a spark was started that brought us to 2,604,381,000 believers in the world. There are believers in every country of the world today. Jesus' ministry was based on God's love for His children, not laws and certainly not condemnation.

Romans 5:8 - But God demonstrates his own love for us in this.

While we were still sinners Christ died for us.

Wheelchairs Made It To Syria!

Smiling Faces In Syria....

Thanks to donors, Joni & Friends and teams in Lebanon, we were able to send a container of wheelchairs and other mobility devices to Syria after the earthquakes.

They are being distributed currently and many smiling faces are resulting. Each chair must be fit to the recipient and the teams are well trained in ensuring a best fit. Lives are impacted positively by this ministry of mobility. Not only can individuals in need gain access to services, but their families' lives are made easier by providing the tools needed to ensure their family member has mobility.

We are raising funds to send another container to Kurdistan and Jordan. Thank you for all you do to make this possible.

The Sign of Genuine Strength

How's Your Strength?

People toss a myriad of cliches about when difficult times come. There’s the famous British saying—Keep Calm and Carry (or Chive) On. And how about the classic American expression—When the going gets tough, the tough get going!

But when a crisis hits, especially a life-threatening one, cliches are like chaff in the wind. They have no substance or weight. Action, not words, is needed. As Proverbs 24:10 says—If you falter in a time of trouble, how small is your strength! ( Prov. 24:10 NIV )

People of character rise to the occasion during a crisis. They’re able to meet challenges beyond their control because they don’t trust in circumstances. Their trust is anchored much deeper.

Those with strong character are not centered on themselves in times of crisis, because they don’t trust in themselves. Their world is greater than themselves.

When our life and world revolve around ourselves, it leaves us unprepared to handle the change and interruption of a crisis—whether small or great. A self-absorbed and self-focused life insulates us from others. This isolation is unhealthy and drives us towards indifference—an apathetic attitude toward others.

Left unchecked, indifference leads to a hardness of heart, which weakens our character. If we want to be strong in the face of a crisis, we need to guard against indifference and hardness in our hearts.

Those who don’t faint in a crisis are more concerned for others than themselves. As is often said, “It’s not about you!” Each of us is responsible for being considerate and caring for others—showing mercy and grace toward people we encounter daily.

Take a look at the following verses in Proverbs 24. They remind us that the world is much larger than us, but not separate from us.

Scripture

If you faint in a crisis, you are weak.

Rescue captives condemned to death,

and spare those staggering toward their slaughter.

When you say, “We didn’t know this,”

won’t the one who weighs hearts take note of it?

Won’t the one who guards your soul know it?

Won’t he pay back people for what they do? ( Proverbs 24:10-12 GW )

Simple insights

When we get our eyes off ourselves and become aware of the needs and challenges other people face, it helps put our own concerns into perspective. When I think of rescuing captives (verse 11), it brings many people into view with vastly greater needs than my own.

Many women and children are trapped in the inescapable maze of human trafficking. Unless we or others intervene, they are condemned to a living hell—even death at the hands of merciless captors. It’s not just a global problem but a much more local one.

They need mercy. They cry out for mercy. They need to be rescued.

Millions of people suffer under oppressive and repressive governments or live as refugees who fled savage warfare into an indefinite life stranded between danger and uncertainty. Their plight is through no fault of their own and beyond their control or power.

Thousands of people are trapped in addiction or in bondage to something too powerful for them to overcome on their own. They need merciful and gracious intervention—just as the Lord showed us and as Jesus said, Be merciful as your Father is merciful. ( Luke 6:36 GW )

They need a hand of grace extended to them.

If we say, “We didn’t know this,” or “It’s not my problem…I’ve got my own problems”—it does not excuse us. We can’t just look the other way. Note the triple emphasis of responsibility expressed in verse 12—

Won’t the one who weighs hearts take note of it? Won’t the one who guards your soul know it? Won’t he pay back people for what they do?

This is the heart of what Jesus spoke of in His Sermon on the Mount ( Matthew 5:3-9 ) and His Sermon on the Plain ( Luke 6:27-37 ). If we are Christian believers—those who trust in the Lord Jesus as our Savior—we are called to be like Him in our relationship with people we encounter in life, especially when we are aware of their needs.

We are to be salt and light in the world ( Matt 5:13-16 ), an extension of His heart of compassion, grace, and love to those around us, just as the psalmist reminds us of the Lord’s eternal nature—

The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. ( Psalm 103:8 NIV )

Reflection—

When we get our eyes off ourselves and become aware of other people's needs and challenges, it helps put our concerns into perspective. Each of us is responsible for being considerate and caring for others—to show mercy and grace towards people we encounter in daily life.

Prayer Focus—

When you find yourself wrapped up in your own concerns or worries, ask God to help you look beyond yourself. Ask the Lord to fill you with His compassion and love—His mercy and grace—towards people in your circle of life and beyond.

2023.02 Earthquake Update

The team was on the ground within 20 hours of the earthquake - all of the earthquakes in Syria!

The Warm Heart team based in Lebanon was on the ground in Syria within 20 hours of the first earthquake and has been traveling to Syria regularly to bring help to those in need. Please pray for their safety and their ability to share love with those suffering.

The first week of disaster relief was met with joy and sorrow, some survivors were found, even into the second week. The families have been tremendously grateful for the help and for the heart this team offers. Sharing the love of God through action.

Previously, this team was with Global Hope Network International but determined to part ways as they have a strong desire to share Christ more freely than when working under a secular organization. Now leading the mission, Jamal and his team are loving openly in the name of Christ.

Jamal Hashweh, President of Refuge Cities, has years of experience in this important work to bring solutions to those in need. Jamal is a seasoned international leader with 46 years of compassion work and leadership experience, up until the fall of 2021, he served successfully as the leader of Global Hope Network Jordan and prior to that, the Bible Society. Jamal was born and raised in Jordan, thus fully understanding the local history and culture. After graduating from the University of Jordan in 1978, he chose to leave a promising career in accounting to pursue development and compassion work. Presently, he serves as CEO of Refuge Cities Network (RCN). Jamal is a musician and composer. His hobbies include basketball and swimming. He and his wife, Suzan, have been happily and faithfully married since 1985, and have been blessed with three children: Fadi, Philip, and Jane. They have two grandchildren, Jamal and Felicity.

Under Jamal's leadership, Refuge Cities' has grown to provide medical clinics, education support, and basic needs to over 7 regions in Jordan. A well-known believer, his team often shares how God loves those they serve and He is why they are there.

One Of The Most Beautiful Places On Earth

Lebanon is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Her western border meets the Mediterranean sea and immediately rises thousands of feet to mountains with skiing and the cedar forest.

In ancient times Lebanon was known as Phoenicia and its trade by ships across the Mediterranean. The Lebanese people are descendants of the Phoenicians. The capital of ancient Phoenicia was the city of Byblos, which was first occupied between 8800 and 7000 BC and became known for the production of papyrus.

Through the ages, this beautiful land has seen times of great prosperity and great difficulty.

Today the people of Lebanon are in a difficult time.

Lebanon continues to suffer under hyper-inflation, increasingly limited food and gas supplies, devastating corruption in the government and banking system, an increasing possibility of war between Hezbollah (who base in southern Lebanon and exercise significant control over the government) and Israel, and growing unrest throughout the country.

Though Lebanon is home to many religions, it primarily breaks down to 1/3 Christian, 1/3 Shia Muslim, and 1/3 Suni Muslim.

Christians are typically more successful in business, and the Christian sectors of the country are generally more prosperous.

So, the financial pressures and corruption have had harsher effects on Christians.

Today, the only solution for many is to leave Lebanon.

FPI in partnership with Warm Heart, are working to bring Hope back to the Lebanese people by helping the least & the last, as well as people in the high-level military and government positions.

We began by assisting Syrian refugees who fled the war in Syria. Today our partnership has expanded to include skills training for refugees, education, a mobile clinic/classroom, wheelchairs for the disabled, and discipleship of new believers.

Because of the increasing problems in Lebanon, our work includes the fast-growing numbers of Lebanese people in need.

BEIRUT EXPLOSION UPDATE: Lebanon - In A Time Of Great Need

Beirut struggles to recover from the explosion that destroyed a large area of the city, killing 160 people, thousands were injured, 300,000 have been left homeless, 80,000 of whom are children.

Now, large scale protests are erupting over corruption in their government and their handling of the 2,700 tons of ammonium nitrate that exploded in a warehouse in the port, which brought about the resignation of the prime minister and his cabinet . This is on top of a collapsing economy and food shortages.

Together, we can bring assistance, peace, and safety to many, even in the midst of turmoil.Our team is actively assisting victims through the following response plan:

A Massive Explosion - Lebanon

A massive explosion rocked the city of Beirut on Tuesday, Aug 4, followed by a shock wave that blew out windows and caused widespread damage across the Lebanese capital.

On Tuesday, Aug 4th, an enormous explosion, equivalent to 21 tons of TNT, struck Beirut, Lebanon. At least 100 people were killed and more than 4,000 are reported to be wounded. The Governor of Beirut has said that 300,000 people have been left homeless...

The blast was triggered by more than 2,700 tons of ammonium nitrate. The industrial chemical, often used for fertilizer, had been stored at a warehouse at the city dock since it was unloaded from a seized cargo ship in 2014.

The blast also destroyed a grain storage facility that held 85% of grain for the Lebanese, which relies heavily on food imports. This would suggest the country only has enough grain to last for another month if there is no relief.

An orange cloud of toxic nitrogen dioxide towered over the city following the blast which can cause significant respiratory problems to the residents.

The horrific scenes in the aftermath of the explosion yesterday were devastating for a country already suffering under the strain of so many crises.

Lebanon is in desperate need of help.

Frontier Partners International has been working in Lebanon assisting Syrian refugees in the Bekaa Valley along the Syrian border for almost 6 years and our hearts are broken for the people of Beirut.

Family members of our team apartments and several of churches were severely damaged.

We are assisting these, and other families and churches get back into livable and workable condition. This includes repairs to damaged windows, roof, door, cabinets, replace destroyed furnishings, and the like.

Our goal is to help 5 family apartments and 5 churches at a cost of $5,000 each for a total need of $50,000 this week. Your act of kindness will go a long way to help bring peace in the lives of many in this troubled region.

News feeds are buzzing with media from Iran, Israel, Lebanon, and many countries in the Middle East!

To increase our understanding and compassion for those in these circumstances, let us gather a few realities:

1. Psychological and Mental Health Trauma

PTSD, Anxiety, and Depression: Studies show that war-exposed populations are roughly three times more likely to experience PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Children often suffer from chronic anxiety, nightmares, sleep disorders, and bedwetting.

"Toxic Stress" and Emotional Numbing: Constant exposure to terror causes "toxic stress" in children, leading to long-term developmental issues. Children may become desensitized to violence and emotionally numb.

Intergenerational Trauma: The trauma experienced by parents often impacts their parenting, transmitting fear and anxiety to the next generation.

2. Destruction of Family Units and Social Fabric

Separation and Loss: Families are frequently torn apart through forced displacement, or members are killed, resulting in deep, enduring grief.

Orphaned Children and Sibling-Headed Households: Children are often left without caregivers, creating situations where older siblings must care for younger ones, or children are forced to live on the streets.

Breakdown of Roles: The stress of war often leads to increased domestic violence, divorce, and abandonment. National Institutes of Health (NIH) | (.gov)

3. Physical Devastation and Health Crises

Mortality and Injury: Beyond battlefield deaths, many civilians are killed or maimed by bombings, landmines, and weapons.

Malnutrition and Famine: War disrupts food production and distribution, often using starvation as a weapon of war. Children and the elderly are the most vulnerable to acute malnutrition.

Collapse of Healthcare: Destruction of hospitals and the flight of medical professionals lead to outbreaks of communicable diseases (e.g., cholera) and the inability to treat chronic conditions. National Institutes of Health (NIH) | (.gov)

4. Economic and Social Ruin

Forced Displacement: As of 2024, more than 120 million people were forcibly displaced by conflict. Refugees often face poverty, discrimination, and loss of identity.

Destruction of Livelihoods and Education: Schools and workplaces are destroyed, halting education for years and pushing families into poverty.

Loss of Future Opportunities: Children in conflict zones are often forced into child labor or become child soldiers, denying them their childhood and education.

Regardless of our political and social views, we are all called to a life of compassion towards those who suffer so severely.

HELP FOR THE SUFFERING IN SYRIA ...

International news has made us all well aware of the conflicts resurfacing in Syria.

We are saddened by how a region that seemed it may find peace so quickly erupts yet again into this cauldron of turmoil, with lives lost, and so many displaced as refugees.

Syria has become a hot spot of chaos, persecution, and damage to so many lives, especially to select minorities such as the Christians, the Kurdish people, and other minorities.

FPI has always focused on how to best help the suffering caught up in so much upheaval.

Due to our positioning over the years, with friends and partners in Lebanon and Syria, we have been able to channel funds and resources into these most-needed areas of oppression and hardship.

Through these relationships in Lebanon, Syria, and our partner, Warm Heart, our help of food, medical aid, shelter, and like, have allowed FPI to utilize best-help practices, getting resources, to families and neighborhoods of greatest need.

We in FPI simply cannot say enough good concerning those who take on great risk of life to get these resources into critical areas of disaster; in this case, a re-start of political and military conflict, out of control in Kurdish areas of Syria.
