On August 26, 2026, a catastrophic glacier collapse near Langtang Lirung triggered a flash flood that tore through Nepal's Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Tanahun, Nawalparasi, and Chitwan districts. In minutes, entire villages, bridges, and roads vanished under a wall of ice, mud, and debris. As of this week, hundreds are confirmed dead and thousands remain missing. Tens of thousands of families have lost their homes, their crops, their livelihoods — everything they spent generations building.

The scale of destruction is staggering: dozens of bridges gone, major highways severed, and the vital trade route connecting Nepal and China buried.
